Smart Grow Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Smart Grow app and SmartGrow devices collect, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and how you can delete it. It covers the Smart Grow app on iPhone and Android, SmartGrow devices, and the pages at smartgrow.devwarex.com.

Smart Grow is provided by Creative Fin Tech (registered name: CREATIVE FIN TECH COMPANY COMPUTER PROGRAMMING ACTIVITIES; creativeft.com), Kuwait ("we"). Questions: [email protected].

The short version

• We collect what the app needs to work: your account, your devices and their readings, your settings, and your orders.
• We do not sell your information, we show no advertising, and we do not track you. The app has no analytics of its own. On Android, the code scanner, which Google makes, sends Google diagnostics about how it performs (details below).
• We share information only with the companies that run parts of the service for us, and only for that purpose.
• You can delete your account from the app at any time.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address and the name you give us. Your password, stored only in a scrambled form (a one-way hash) that cannot be turned back into the password. Your time zone and language. If you sign in with Google or Apple: the account identifier that service gives us, and the email address it shares (Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one). The first time you sign in with Apple, we also receive the name you choose to share.

Your settings. Units, language, which notifications you want, and your quiet hours.

Your devices. When you add a SmartGrow device, it is linked to your account. Each device has a serial number and network hardware addresses, recorded when it is manufactured. The device sends us its readings and status. We keep the commands you send it, the automation rules you create (including the names you give them), and your growing cycles (including the crop names you type). If you share a device with someone, we record who has access.

Connecting a device to Wi-Fi. The app gives your device your Wi-Fi network name and password over Bluetooth, through an encrypted connection, while you stand next to it. The password goes to your device only: the app does not save it, and it never reaches our servers. On Android 11 and older, the phone asks for location permission, because it will not look for Bluetooth devices without it. The app uses it only to find your device, and we collect no location.

Your orders. When you order from the shop: your name, phone number, delivery address and any notes, and the items and prices. Any return you received is recorded against the order: the items and the amount. The app never asks for card or bank details. If you choose to message us on WhatsApp, the app opens WhatsApp, and WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to that conversation.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a notification token from Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging, which is how a message reaches your phone, a random identifier for your installation of the app, and the notifications we send you.

Emails. We keep the emails we send you (verification, password reset and security notices) only as long as needed to deliver them.

Camera and photos. The camera is used to scan the code printed on a device when you add it. If you choose, it also scans a Wi-Fi code when you connect a device to your network, and you can instead choose an image of a Wi-Fi code from your photos. The Wi-Fi code is read on your phone: the image and what the code contains are not uploaded to our servers, and the app does not keep the image. On Android, scanning uses Google's ML Kit, which reads the code on the phone itself. It sends Google diagnostics about how the scanner performs, such as the phone model, the app version, timings and a random identifier for your installation of the app, but not the image or the code. In plant diagnosis you can take or choose a photo of a plant; that photo never leaves your phone. It is not uploaded, saved or shared, and it is discarded when you leave the screen.

Technical information. Like any online service, our servers and our hosting provider's network see your IP address in order to deliver the service and protect it from abuse, for example by limiting repeated sign-in attempts. We do not store IP addresses in our database.

How we use it

• To run the service: your account, your devices, readings, automations, notifications and orders.
• To keep it secure: sign-in protection, preventing abuse, and keeping records of important account and security actions.
• To support you when you ask for help.

We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.

Who else handles it

Your information is stored and processed outside Kuwait, mainly in Germany (our servers and database) and Ireland (email delivery), and on Google's and Apple's infrastructure for the services named above. WhatsApp is not a provider of ours; it is used only when you open a chat with us. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Your account, settings, devices and automations: until you delete your account.
• Device readings: detailed readings for 90 days; summaries (hourly, daily, weekly) are kept for your device's history.
• Notifications: deleted 30 days after they are finished with.
• Emails: the message content is removed within hours of sending, and the record that a message was sent is deleted after 90 days.
• Orders: kept as sales records. Your name, phone number, address and notes are removed when you delete your account, or when the order finishes if it is still being delivered.
• Security records of important actions (for example signing in, changing a password, or deleting an account) are kept to protect the service. They contain account identifiers, not your contact details.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app under Account → Delete account. You confirm with your password, or by signing in again with Google or Apple. You are signed out on every device at once, and your account is deleted 7 days later. Signing in again before then cancels the deletion. We email you the date.

Deletion removes your email address, name, password, settings, notifications, automations, and your link to Google or Apple sign-in; if you confirm in the app by signing in with Apple, we also ask Apple to end Smart Grow's access. Your devices are retired: they stop reporting and cannot be added to another account. Kept, without your contact details: order records (items, prices, dates and status), security records, and readings from your retired devices until the 90-day period ends. We email you again when it is done, and you can then use the same email address to create a new, unrelated account.

Without the app: see smartgrow.devwarex.com/delete-account. You enter your account's email address and confirm from the link we send to it; the same 7 days apply. If the link does not reach you, email [email protected] from the address on your account, and we complete the request within 7 days.

Your choices

• Update your name, language and time zone in the app.
• Turn notifications off in the app or in your phone's settings.
• Delete your account at any time.
• Ask us what we hold about you, or to correct it, at [email protected].

Security

Connections to our servers are encrypted. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Sign-in sessions are stored in a form that cannot be used if copied from our database, and each device has its own credential. No system is perfectly secure, but we design the service to hold as little as it needs.

Children

Smart Grow is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app.
